Privacy policy

Substate Audio ("we", "us") operates substateaudio.com, a direct store and label site for drum and bass and jungle releases and producer tools.

This policy describes what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to visitors, buyers, demo submitters, and DJ promo recipients.

We do not sell your personal information.

Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:

• Store checkout: email address and cart contents you provide before payment. Payment card details are handled by Stripe, not stored on our servers.
• Orders: email, purchase items, amounts, currency, order status, Stripe session and payment identifiers, and a time-limited download token so you can retrieve purchased files.
• Demo submissions: artist name, email, track titles, external file link, optional style notes, social links, message, and a one-way hash of your IP address used only for rate limiting.
• DJ promos: email and optional name when you are added to a promo list, plus engagement data when you open a promo link (page views, plays, downloads, approximate country from Cloudflare headers, IP address, and browser user-agent string).
• Free producer tools: email, optional name, marketing opt-in choice, which tools you downloaded, and a one-way hash of your IP address used only for download rate limiting.
• Cart: items you add are stored in your browser local storage until you clear it or complete checkout. We do not receive cart contents until you start checkout.
• Admin access: session cookies for authenticated label operators only.

We use personal information to:

• Process purchases and deliver download links.
• Review demo submissions and respond when a track fits the label.
• Send pre-release DJ promos to contacts who have been added to our promo lists.
• Deliver free Ableton extension downloads and, if you opt in, email you when paid tools launch.
• Measure promo engagement (opens, plays, downloads) so we know which releases reached DJs.
• Calculate and pay artist royalties on label sales.
• Prevent abuse (for example, demo submission rate limits).
• Operate and secure the site.

We use service providers that process data on our behalf:

• Stripe processes payments. See stripe.com/privacy for their policy.
• Cloudflare provides CDN, tunnel, and security services in front of the site. Cloudflare may log connection metadata such as IP address and country.
• Resend delivers outbound email (promos, royalty statements, and related label mail).

These providers only receive the data needed to perform their service. We do not use third-party advertising or behavioral analytics trackers on the public site.

The public store uses browser local storage for your cart. Clearing site data in your browser removes it.

Promo and download links may set short-lived session data as needed to stream files.

Authenticated admin pages use session cookies for operator login.

We do not run a cookie consent banner because we do not use non-essential tracking cookies on the public storefront.

We keep order records as long as needed for accounting, tax, download fulfillment, and royalty calculations.

Demo submissions are kept while we review them and for a reasonable period afterward.

Promo list contacts remain until you unsubscribe or we remove the address.

Promo engagement events are kept for reporting on the promo that generated them.

Promo email: every promo includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email [email protected] to opt out of future promos.

Access or deletion: email [email protected] with your request. We will verify your identity before changing or deleting account-related data. Some records (for example, completed orders) may be retained where law or accounting requires it.

You can browse the catalog without creating an account. Checkout requires an email so we can deliver your files.

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
